On 30 March 2022 the FCC announced that it wouldKDB 447498 D06, originally due 1 April, was deferred to 30 June, so new KDB 447498 D07 applies from 1 July. Old KDB 447498 D01 may be used until 30 June 2022; after that, except PAG cases, the new assessment is mandatory.
KDB 447498 D04 update highlights:
For portable devices, power conditions are stricter: 2.4 GHz products above 3 mW (4.77 dBm) and 5 GHz Wi-Fi above 1 mW (0 dBm) must have SAR measurements to show compliance.
Portable devices: typically used within 5 mm of the body — Bluetooth headsets, bands/watches, phones, notebooks, tablets, MP3, AR/VR, pedometers, USB WLAN adapters and other low-power, short-range gear.
Note:
Portable devices that the update forces into SAR can still skip SAR before 30 June. V07 is stricter: SAR adds time and cost and lengthens certification. Manufacturers should design accordingly and apply for FCC ID soon to reduce customs risk.
