Yangcheng Evening News: As electronics are upgraded ever faster, demand for metrology and testing has surged and instrument quality expectations have risen. Other technical-service providers in the Pearl River Delta often offer only one service — calibration, repair, testing or trials — and even a single service is rarely completed by one organization. Companies must use a one-to-many model, which is costly and inconvenient. Guangdong’s SME public technical-service demonstration platform studies local industry trends and offers SMEs full-spectrum services: metrology and testing, instrument repair, sales, rental and metrology training.
While serving Pearl River Delta SME metrology needs, the platform built a team of more than 300 metrology engineers, account staff and technical support. Sectors include electronics, telecoms, rail, aerospace, power, automotive, machinery, energy, chemicals, food and finance, serving over 3,000 SMEs a year.
The platform’s calibration capability covers nine metrology fields: length, mechanics, electricity, radio, time and frequency, thermal, chemistry, acoustics and optics. SMEs can send instruments in, request on-site calibration or use a courier service. Value-added options include combined inspection and repair, help choosing instruments, same-day rush jobs and paperless certificates, improving product quality and cutting cost.
Besides calibration, the platform solves key production metrology problems and trains staff. More metrology talent improves the SME environment, competitiveness and sustainable growth in Guangdong and South China.
